Privacy

What we collect, in plain words.

If you never type anything into this site, we do not collect anything that identifies you. If you give us an email address, we use it to email you and nothing else.

What we collect

If you sign up

Your email address, the ZIP code if you choose to enter one, which page you signed up from, and the date. That is the whole record.

If you fill in the longer form

Additionally your name, what you do, how you said you could help, and whatever you wrote in the message box.

If you just read

We count page views so we know which pages are useful. That count records the page address, the site that referred you, and the date. It does not record your IP address, does not set a tracking cookie, and cannot be tied back to you.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Ever.
  • We do not set advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run advertising networks on this site.
  • We do not share your email with other organizations, including the clinics, employers, or insurers discussed on this site.
  • We do not attempt to identify you, profile you, or infer your health conditions. Nothing you read here is recorded against you.

Where it is stored, and for how long

Records are stored in Google Cloud Firestore, on servers in the United States. The site itself runs on Google Cloud Run. Google processes this data on our behalf as our hosting provider.

We keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. When you unsubscribe, your address is marked as unsubscribed so we do not email you again. If you want it erased entirely rather than marked, ask and we will erase it.

Content from other companies

The public cases pageembeds a video from YouTube and posts from X. When those load, those companies can see that a browser requested their content and may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, which limits what it records until you press play. No other page on this site embeds third-party content.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe at any time. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and you can also use the unsubscribe page directly.
  • Ask what we hold on you. We will tell you and send you a copy.
  • Ask us to delete it. We will, and we will confirm when it is done.

These apply to everyone who asks, regardless of where you live. We do not require you to prove residency in California or the EU to exercise them.

Children

This site is written for adults making decisions about healthcare costs. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
